How to book a commission
I accept commissions throughout the year and can give you an estimate of how quickly you will receive your artwork when you contact me. Depending on the piece, these can take between two weeks and several months depending on how many pieces I am working on.
If you need your artwork for a specific date, please contact me as soon as possible and I will do my best to meet your requirements.
I work from photographs of your animal, and to create a lifelike and detailed portrait these photographs need to be of good quality and taken in good light.
I appreciate that sometimes animals can be difficult to photograph or may have passed away and you realise you don’t have many good pictures of them, so please send me what you have and I can discuss with you what can be achieved.
I have recently received requests to add subtle angel wings or rainbow backgrounds to portraits of animals that have passed, so please let me know if this is something you would like to consider.
I always like to hear a bit about your animals, as I really do find this helps with making the artwork true to their character, so let me know any characteristics or personality traits too!
For coloured pencil drawings your artwork will be sent with a mount for no additional cost. I do not usually frame commissions as the glass may become damaged when shipped, but if this is something you would like then please let me know and we can discuss options. I only use pencils that have a very high lightfast rating, ensuring that your drawing will stay vibrant for many years to come. For acrylic paintings I use high quality Loxley gold canvases which will be ready to hang on the wall when you receive them. Again, I only use high quality pigment paints with high lightfast ratings.
Once we have agreed on your photographs and that you would like to go ahead with a commission, i will require a 50% payment to begin your work. This is not refundable if I have begun working on your artwork and you decide to cancel.

*Prices are based on one subject, and the sizes are based on paper size. Your portrait will be a good size within the paper area. Postage is included. There is a booking fee to secure your commission space, with the balance due on completion.
